Here we have a very nicely made model of the Tallyllyn Railway's Barclay based loco 'Tom Rolt'. This is a 5" scale loco built to 7 1/4" gauge. The builder has widened the frames in order to accommodate the larger gauge, but apart from the widening, the model is to 5" scale. Re-gauging to 5" wouldn't require a great deal of re-working for a competent model engineer if that's what you'd like to do. The boiler is a nicely made professional job too with all the relevant manufacturer paperwork. The general standard of model engineering is superb, including snazzy bits and bobs like spark eroded motion brackets because,..... well why not?! This is a very well on the way loco, a great winter project for someone to push over that final hurdle. We are very tempted to finish it here in the workshops, but we are just so busy with other projects that we fear the wait time in our queue would see a very dusty Tom Rolt nestled on our shelves at the turn of the next century!!
